FNR PEARL Chair · Head of Software Engineering RDI Unit, LIST
Head of the Software Engineering RDI Unit at the Luxembourg Institute of Science & Technology (LIST) and Affiliate Professor at the University of Luxembourg. In 2023 he was awarded an FNR PEARL Chair to create BESSER — the world’s first open-source intelligent low-code platform — in collaboration with SnT. His research promotes the rigorous use of software models across all software engineering tasks.
Postdoctoral Researcher, LIST
I work at the intersection of model-driven engineering, low-code platforms, and IoT systems — building tools that let people describe complex software at a higher level of abstraction and let machines do the rest. Research & Technology Scientist in the Software Engineering RDI Unit at LIST, co-developing BESSER.
Lead developer of BESSER
I build at the intersection of applied AI, AI agents, model-driven engineering, and open-source software. Currently leading development of BESSER, a low-code / low-modeling platform at the Luxembourg Institute of Science & Technology (LIST), and contributing to the EU Horizon projects CLIMABOROUGH (smart cities) and 6G-TWIN (AI-driven network digital twins for 6G).
Research Engineer, LIST
Developing the BESSER Agentic Framework and contributing to AI and Software Engineering projects.
PhD Student, Computer Science
PhD student at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology, working on the efficient development of adaptive user interfaces with low-code / MDE techniques — with a focus on conversational user interfaces. Part of the BESSER FNR PEARL project; also interested in HCI and learning technologies.
Research Scientist, LIST
Fitash’s research focus is on quantum software engineering, low-code approaches for quantum computing, OCL-based model constraints, and software testing.
Works on integrating large language models with model-driven engineering to enable automated UI generation, interoperability across low-code platforms, UI modernization and migration, educational application development (LMS), and policy-aware system development.
Extending BESSER with neural network modelling and migration capabilities, enabling AI components to be designed and migrated across deep learning frameworks as part of smart system development.
My research focuses on knowledge graphs and knowledge representation methods for integrating and reasoning over complex data, as well as on distributed learning, knowledge discovery, metascience, and scientometrics.
Research & Technology Scientist, LIST
Software engineering and machine-learning researcher focused on automation in open-source development — detecting and characterising bots on social-coding platforms such as GitHub. He created RABBIT, a tool that identifies bot accounts from their GitHub activity sequences. At LIST he works on software automation through agents, bots, and CI/CD workflows as part of BESSER.
PhD Student
Working on low-code, model-driven techniques for defining, governing, and deploying swarms of LLM agents.
